The Priory Retreat House

Located at the top of Pine Notch Road in the southeastern Adirondack village of Chestertown, NY,our retreat/renewal center has a rich history of spiritual development and soul-healing renewal.  It is staffed by Sisters of St. Joseph and lay persons who have been welcoming people of all faiths and religious affiliations and hosting groups and individuals since 1987.

Our rambling three-story house with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and forestland consists of nineteen informal rooms that can accommodate up to three day groups simultaneously. We have a large, eat-in country kitchen, a comfortable sprawling living room with a cozy wood stove, a large and small chapel, a library, reading nooks and corners, and eight bedrooms and dormitory space.

We are happy to be of service to all who come, regardless of religious affiliation. Our desire is to provide a peaceful space in which people can deepen their spirituality and enrich their lives. We invite all to find God with us on our sacred mountain.

Directed or private retreat days, days of prayer, and overnights may be arranged on an individual basis and for groups, both during the week and on weekends. The Priory is available for a wide variety of groups, such as parish councils, church societies, senior citizens, priests’ support groups, religious congregations, campus ministry groups, etc.  Contact Us
