Do you long for simple tools to increase inner peace in your busy life? It is common to feel overworked and overwhelmed in today’s do-more-with-less environment. Achieving inner peace on a daily basis can be a challenge. During this workshop you will: learn techniques to reduce stress; discover strategies to gain a peaceful mind and heart; gather ideas to help you find the balance you want; and have time to experience several of these ideas and strategies.

Nurturing Your Creativity
Friday, April 27, 10am-3pm
Do you ever feel that there is no time for creativity in your life? The most prayerful, most spiritually powerful act people can undertake is to create. This program will provide time for your creativity to emerge. It will begin with a discussion of the connection of spirituality and creativity. Creative experiences will be provided but you may bring your own expressions to be with. Approximately 3 hours will be provided for these experiences and we will end with a closing ritual.

The Gift of Contemplative Prayer
Saturday, April 28, 10am-3pm
Have you experienced the gift of contemplative prayer? It is the Divine Presence praying within us. In this workshop, we will get a glimpse of the contemplative dimension of the Gospel by using “Scriptural Voice Dialogue”, a process that awakens aspects of ourselves that we tend to “disown.” We will also present the basics of Centering Prayer, a way of cultivating our relationship with God that is beyond words, thoughts, or emotions. This workshop will serve as an introduction to Centering Prayer as well as an enrichment opportunity for those with an established spiritual practice.

Psalms and Other Mystical Poetry

Do you know what it means to be a mystic? They teach us how to pray, what kinds of things to bring to prayer, and what intimate prayer is like. Following an introduction to some of the mystics and their writings, we will listen to poetry, read, spend time in quiet reflection, and share our experience.

Did you ever wonder that what you said is not what your partner heard? In this workshop, we will explore the relationship needs of both men and women in the light of scriptural directives for loving your spouse. We will discover why bypassing a simple, but important first step frustrates our desires for closeness. Some simple exercises will be provided to learn how to open the doors for emotional intimacy.

Do you search for the Living God in your own life? Elizabeth Johnson writes: “Since the middle of the twentieth century, there has been a renaissance of new insight into God in the Christian tradition.” Every word in this book breathes with the author’s own deep love of God and the world. In this group, we will discuss what resonated within, what questions arose, and any insight received. Chapters 4-6 will be discussed.

God’s Compassion: Healing Our Wounds

Do you know how to ‘navigate’ loss/pain/suffering when experiences of ‘woundedness’ enter life’s journey? Where is God when we attempt to find healing of our wounds? Might there be some ‘ways’ of journeying through suffering that can lead us to ‘new life’ of resurrection? This day of retreat will explore these questions through input, quiet prayer, open discussion (and the possibility of a ‘film-story’ to touch our own story).

Achieving the Serenity Prayer: Learning When and How to Let Go

Do you recognize this prayer: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change...”? This day will be divided into three themes: serenity, courage, and wisdom. Each of these topics help us how to discern when and how to let go of various situations in our lives. There will be time for discussion, private reflection, and group sharing.

Inner Journey with Soul Collage

A Guide’s Journey through the Adirondacks

Have you experienced the awesome beauty of the Adirondack Mountains? Friday evening, we will have a slide presentation of wilderness areas by Paul Gibaldi, an author and guide. For the adventurer, on Saturday, we will canoe or kayak to Henderson Lake in Newcomb. To Quote Paul: “This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to in my life! It is truly a ‘WOW experience!’” When we arrive at a lean-to, we will take time to absorb the spiritual in nature. Call The Priory if you wish to make overnight reservations and further information.
